Welcome back from summer !

Hello everybody,

I trust that you all had a great summer, lots of fun activities,
relaxing, and so forth. :) But now it's well into September, so it's
time to get the ball rolling again on the proposed DevOps conference.

First thing's first : are we still interested in doing this ? I feel
like we lost some momentum over the summer, but if there's still
interest from the group, I'm definitely still ready to make this thing
happen. How about you guys ?

Unfortunately I won't be making it out to DevOpsDays in Italy, but I
will be hitting up Velocity EU [1] in London in a couple of weeks.
Beyond attending the conference itself, I'm going to be taking notes on
how they've organised their tracks (etc.), and also take time out to
talk with attendees, speakers, and (hopefully) organisers about the
event. The idea is to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. Is
anybody else going ?

Speaking from recent experience, a couple of weeks ago I was on the
technical team for a MozCamp [2] event, which brought together over 300
people from around the world for a two-day, five-track conference in
Warsaw. The number one complaint was Wi-Fi problems - so I suppose
that's something we'll need to at least take into consideration. :) We
also worked with a third-party event management company called "Wolf
Production" [3] out of Cologne, and they were absolutely essential in
every aspect of the setup, daily organisation, and final strike. Take
note : we should absolutely consider hiring a professional event
management company if possible.

Hi Hugues,

Patrick put me in touch with another group of people who are looking to
organise a DevOpsDays here in Paris next year. I had a brief telephone
conversation, but they're in the very early stages, so we didn't say too
much. The best thing would be for us all to meet and have a beer to
hash our ideas out, and really get the ball rolling. I'll send out a
private email with contact details (so that it doesn't get posted to the
web archives).

Unfortunately, I will be out of the country for most of the month of
October, so I won't be able to make it to the next Paris Devops meetup.

Cheers !
