keeping a session alive

keeping a session alive

Hi,

I have a cron job to make conkeror visit "http://site.org/some/url"
every hour. (The goal is to avoid a timeout of my session on site.org;
I visit the site often, but not often enough to avoid timeout, and
it's a pain to have to log in again each time).

The command I'm currently using is

conkeror -e 'load_url_in_new_buffer_background("...");'

It does the job, but leaves behind all open buffers that I must
occasionally close by hand. I haven't found a command that doesn't
open a buffer.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Silvio

PS. I also thought of downloading the contents of the URL but I
haven't figured out how to do that either. (I don't know javascript; I
just browse through the source code looking for promising function
names.)

Silvio,

Maybe try one of these:
