Re the name: I did find this rather disturbing Urban Dictionary reference:
Make of that what you will, I didn't find any other references to same
in the top search results. I'm honestly unsure and undecided about how
or whether to take that into account, so I merely offer it for
completeness' sake. :)
I too like the idea of collecting electric bills, and wonder if we might
gamify/incentivize contributions of that data. Given that we attract a
different type of customer than would a typical capitalist enterprise,
maybe a year's worth of data gets you a coupon you can pass on to a
friend, or one that you can make available to a general install pool? So
if you're the type who likes to help, you could contribute your data,
get a 10%-off coupon or something, then that gets made available either
to our next install or to someone in need? That has a few effects. Folks
who like helping get to, new customers feel like they've gotten an even
better deal, we get data...
Of course, we talked about electric bills being less useful than I'd
originally hoped, so I don't know if we could actually *do* anything
with that data. Still though, incentivizing its collection would
eliminate at least one of the problems we brought up last night.
